Justice and Charity
The mission of the Justice and Charity ministry is to help provide for the needs of the poor and homeless in our community and to promote parish participation in the ministry’s activities. Some of the organizations we support are The Salvation Army (school supplies collection, Christmas Angel Tree), Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia (“Baby Shower” – baby clothes and supplies for needy families). Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia, Gloucester United Emergency Shelter Team (G.U.E.S.T.), and Bread for Life Food Pantry. See below for ways to use your talents in serving our community.

Jubilee Churches of Gloucester
St. Therese is part of Jubilee Churches of Gloucester: a coalition of several churches collaborating resources to help prevent homelessness and to help those transitioning out of homelessness in our community. We provide financial resources by contributing to the Jubilee Churches Fund and human resources by providing lunches and assistance at the GUEST Day Shelter. The GUEST Day Shelter is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9:00 a.m-2:00 p.m. for those experiencing homelessness. They are able to have lunch, have access to shower and laundry facilities and receive guidance. If interested in volunteering, call 804-792-5046. Contributions may be sent to:

Migrant Ministry
Along with the Church of the Holy Family, Virginia Beach, we support the migrant ministry at the Christmas season. Parishioners are asked to fill small gift bags for children living in the migrant worker camps on the Eastern Shore. Watch the bulletin for information and dates.m
prison Ministry
A ministry member visits and leads a Bible Study for female inmates. We have provided Bibles and religious literature. At Christmas and Easter, we have collected candy and greeting cards for the prison. For more information on involvement and training for this ministry call the church office.
